I took some time off from my hectic schedule to make a turn at the annual Streetmod Motorshow over the weekend. Thanks to Marlize Hoon for dragging me along. This event took place at the Good Hope Centre and was one promising one not to be missed by all petrolheads. Once again the Mother City’s modfathers and sisters didn’t disappoint the crowd.
The main floor was packed with some awesome metal ranging from some of the hottest hotrods to Cape Town’s finest modified mobiles. The basement was allocated to the …
These days cars are looking hotter and hotter in their OEM state. Take for example this Ford Focus RS, its got the standard trimings, but an aftermarket set of rims that have been resprayed Frozen Blue with the mirrors to match and a set of coilovers. Now lets be honest, that looks totally awesome just as is, right?
Would you do anything else to this Ford Focus RS to try improve the look?
Over the years Motown has become one of those name that you associate with awesome V8 power. Motown is based down here in Cape Town. Ralph the owner has been rebuilding his 1000HP Chev Firenza Can Am over the last couple of months to hopefully brake into the 8 second bracket. His car used to run 9′s down the Killarney strip a good couple of times. So we managed to borrow a couple of the build pics of his rebuild, Ralph is now aiming a little lower down on the …

I remember when I had my first sound setup in my car, blowing almost all my wages on expensive equipment. The neighbours were complaining and pushing a SPL reading of 140dB’s at a sound off event was impressive. That was then and time has changed, so is the competition and sound equipment.
Dennis Kinnear, from Mitchells Plain in Cape Town, owns a 150 plus dB car. His choice of SPL car is a 1979 Ford Escort mk2. Now for those that don’t know how loud that is, let …
These are the results from last weekends Sound off at Audio Kings in Brackenfell, Team dB hosted the events and it had one hell of a turn out, well done to the guys that took part in the sound off. For images of the event follow this link: Team dB and Audio Kings “Ridez and Vibez”
Bellow are the results from the event.
Not too long ago I did a write up called: “From a judge’s point of view”. This was some useful tips for all our “show and shine” petrol heads. So, it’s just fair that I do something on Stance. This is to clear the confusion between the two as most petrol heads confuse the one with the other.
Stance is all about rims with a lot of offset, stretched tyres, and negative camber. To achieve that “perfect” stance-look, you must have suspension modifications that will allow your car to sit closer …
This is something I personally have dreamt of doing to my Mk1 golf. A guy in Germany has done it to his Mk3 Golf, he has gone all out though.
The project all started off with a bare Mk3 Gti shell.
The car was then fitted with a modified Volvo T5 power plant. A couple special bits were added to the motor as you can see from the pictures.
Next the body was treated to an awesome powderkoting ,rollcage and sprayjob.
The drive train was put in place and all the bolts were secured.
The …
Growing up with a lot of Merc’s in our family iv grown to dislike them and became more of a BMW fan, but I quickly changed my tune when I saw this little red riding hood. The Mercedes Benz SLS is a very special car. Its one of the few cars in the world to have explosives, the explosives in the doors are a safely feature for when and if you roll the car, the door will automatically shoot off so that the occupants can climb out safely.
Merc says:
Ten to …
The end of October was a busy period for the Kaihatsu Liqui-Moly Silvia.
A photo shoot was on the books for RACEWEB online magazine for about a month or two now, so on a Friday last month after finishing off the roll cage and interior we booked it in for a shoot on Table Mountain road.
We also attending the MASSIVE CTSR park off in Ottery China Town on 27 October 2011. The car drew great attention parked up with 1 or 2 of the other D1S cars. The night also saw …
