So I’m not sure if most of you know, but our lady in red(ok yes the car is white, but red sounds good), Marlize had a bit of a accident a while back. Long story short some old lady was obvious jealous of how quick Marlize’s car was and decided to get T-boned by the nippy lil Mk2 GTI.

The official statement:

On Monday, the 14th of November I was innocently driving to work when a 70 year old lady decided to make a turn at the robot intersection right in front ...

Over the years Motown has become one of those name that you associate with awesome V8 power. Motown is based down here in Cape Town. Ralph the owner has been rebuilding his 1000HP Chev Firenza Can Am over the last couple of months to hopefully brake into the 8 second bracket. His car used to run 9′s down the Killarney strip a good couple of times. So we managed to borrow a couple of the build pics of his rebuild of the Chev, Ralph is now aiming a little lower ...

This is something I personally have dreamt of doing to my Mk1 golf. A guy in Germany has done it to his Mk3 Golf, he has gone all out though.
The project all started off with a bare Mk3 Gti shell.

The car was then fitted with a modified Volvo T5 power plant. A couple special bits were added to the motor as you can see from the pictures.

Next the body was treated to an awesome powderkoting ,rollcage and sprayjob.

The drive train was put in place and all the bolts were secured.

My leave has come to an end again. This time around, the amount of work I accomplished was pathetic. Its amazing how a seat cover can get in the way of a hobby (I suppose she is a hobby too…)
I started by removing my deep sump and replacing it with a larger unit. Now the engine swallows a full 5 liter oil can without the oil even reaching the dipstick. Total oil capacity is about 6.5 liters now, up from the original 2.5 liters.

I then went about making up a ...

This car is a new version of the 2005 machine, which was the “new generation” Hill Climb racing car designed with a concept similar to that of a formula car. Suzuki highly considered aerodynamic influence on the car activity and completed a very effective wing. The wing is combined with its long-wheel-base chassis and enables an “on-the-rail” feeling of driving.

Composite Castings in the US have developed a new lightweight, carbon fiber composite, four cylinder engine block. This engine block design was developed by Matti Holtzberg, president and founder of Composite Castings. The new block makes use of carbon fiber as the reinforcement for the base epoxy resin. The high performance compound is moulded into the finished engine block profile using Composite Castings proprietary moulding process that features low cost tooling and provides for faster cycle times compared to conventional moulding methods. The new engine blocks are apparently up to ...

Over the last 4-6 months I have been following Nigel’s build on his website engineeredtoslide.com which was originally posted on a .blogspot domain.
Most makes and models of cars these days can be remapped, with Diesel and Turbo Diesel models giving the best performance increases, both in the Torque and KW. This gives the car much better response than the usual factory settings. Basically this mean that after the remap your car will perform much better than it originally did. This includes having more power and an increase in fuel efficiency.
